The Future: 2018 and Beyond

Hey folks, thought it was about time I wrote something new and let everyone know what I have been up to. It has been a pretty slow year in terms of blogging, not that there was a lack of stuff to talk about. I had a very busy year finishing my degree, but now that it’s over it’s time to kick things into high gear. Let’s get this show on the road!

First I guess I need to apologize for the inactivity to those I follow and who follow me. I kind of dropped off the face of the planet there for a bit…

My last year of school was a lot busier than I thought it would be. This was especially true for my semester spent in Japan, which was spent on busy trains, quite libraries and beautiful streets. If I wasn’t studying or in school, I was traveling somewhere and getting lost. On more than one occasion I thought of taking lots of pictures and blogging about the sights I was seeing, but I ended up just enjoying the moments to my self and taking it all in.

Now that I am back in Canada and am finding myself with a lot more free time, it’s time to really get the blog to where I have always wanted to take it. Since I started it in 2015, it has evolved quite a bit in terms of content and writing style. Since the beginning the mission has always been the same though, and that is to share the things that I love with everyone and to have fun doing it. Now that I have the time to really put my all into it, the coming year will be an all new look for this place.

To start off, I am starting a YouTube channel where I can have a space to create content focused on video games. Writing on video games has always been fun, and in fact the amount of video game posts will most definitely increase as the channel starts (I plan on posting the scripts of the videos here for those who would rather still read my thoughts than listen and watch). One thing my posts were never able to fully capture though is the visual experience of playing games. Video just seemed like the perfect format to talk about games and show them off at the same time. Right now the plan is to post one new video a week (probably on Friday’s or Monday’s, but the day hasn’t been set yet). Hopefully I will see some of you over there, but if not please keep an eye out for the text posts here. (I will provide a link to the channel once it goes live with its first video)

As for something specifically related to the blog, I also plan on releasing at least one new blog per week for the entirety of 2018. Emphasis on the “at least” part, since it is my goal to blow every other year out of the water in terms of content for your reading pleasure. The types of posts will mostly be similar to my most recent blog entries, being first impressions and short essay style posts talking about my personal connections to various manga, anime and games. I may get back into writing more formal first impressions on manga (in a review style such as my post on Miss Koboyashi’s Dragon Maid or Dr. Stone), but that will solely depend on if any new manga catch my eye in 2018. For the most part I want to keep things a bit more loose and less structured so I can talk about what I want and not feel obligated to talk about a series just because I picked it up.

So that’s all for now, I just thought I would write up a little something talking about what is on the horizon. I hope to catch up with everyone and read what you have been posting soon. Take care everyone, and for now I will see you in the new year!
